Collect payment for an appointment
Record cash, take a card payment by QR code or link at the counter, collect after the visit, or let clients pay from their account on your booking site.
There are three ways to get paid for an appointment. Card options need Stripe or Square connected; cash always works.
At the counter, when you complete the appointment
When you mark an appointment complete on your Schedule, choose how the client is paying:
- Cash. Enter the tip if there was one (there are quick 15, 18, and 20 percent buttons) and complete. The payment is recorded straight away.
- Card. If you have not connected a payment processor yet, you are pointed to Settings > Payments to set one up; choose Cash or No payment for now. Once connected, a QR code appears. The client scans it with their phone, adds a tip, and pays on a secure Stripe page. You can also copy the link or open it on your own device. The screen updates by itself once they have paid.
- No payment. Complete the visit without recording a payment, for example if they will pay later.
After the visit
With a payment processor connected, an appointment that is completed but not fully paid shows a Collect payment button on its card. It opens the same QR code and link, so you can text the link to the client.
From the client's account
Clients who sign in to your booking site see anything they owe under Payment due, and can pay by card from there with a tip.
A tip after the visit
When an appointment is completed and already paid, for example paid in full at booking, it shows an Add tip button. Choose Cash to record a cash tip straight away, or Card to show a QR code the client scans to leave a tip on their phone. Card tips start at $1. The tip is added to the appointment and to the client's lifetime tips, and it does not change your revenue.
When nothing more is owed
If you are not collecting the rest, for example after a free touch up or when you are happy to call a deposit even, open Payments on the appointment card and choose Mark as no payment due. It stops the appointment showing as unpaid without recording any money, and you can undo it any time. The Payments button appears on any appointment with a payment recorded, and on completed appointments that are not fully paid.
